The 1st Globe Theatre which has a very important role in the history of theatre was established in London in 1599. Shakespeare became a partner of the theatre. Later Globe Theatre was burnt in a fire. The Globe Theatre of today is a reconstruction of the 1st Globe Theatre which was built same as the original. The theatre had an open part in the middle and became wet with the rain. As a result of an examination made on the old ground, it was seen that the ground was filled with a mixture of hazelnut shells, pebbles, clay and sand. So this mixture would absorb the rain and did not cause dust. When NUR ÜZMEN told us that hazelnut shells were required during the reconstruction, our Foundation made a move; obtained 7.5 tons of hazelnut from Fiskobirlik free of any charges; and transported the shells to Ankara. The British Embassy sent the hazelnut shells to England by a warplane of the Royal British Airlines. As a result, the hazelnut shells took their places in the ground of Globe Theatre and TOBAV’s name was printed on the floor.

2008

On the 85th anniversary of the foundation of our republic, starting off from the lines of great leader Atatürk, who is the founder of modern Turkish Republic and the most successful culture revolutionist;

I think it is too difficult to seperate civilization from culture and it does not make any sense, either. Hence, let me explain what I understand from culture. Culture is the combination of the tasks which a society can peform in the fields of governance, science and fine arts, economic activities such as agricultural, commercial, vocational, and transportational (ground, sea, and air) activities. Once a nation’s civilization is under question, what I consider as culture cannot be thought of anything but three sorts of activities: state governance, science and fine arts, and economic activities of a human society.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

For the 85th. celebration of The Turkish Republic, TOBAV  realised a concert at Anıtpark, the 26 October with  participation

of 2500 volunteer chorists from 52 choirs all around Turkey.  “Culture is the foundation of Turkish Republic” was the concert theme. The choir, which was conducted by İbrahim Yazıcı, was accompanied by a volunteering band consisting of 60 musicians. The number of the chorists reached to thousands with the participation of fellow citizens. We have recalled once again that the definiton of Turkish Republic as stated in our mother law is a secular, democratic, and a social law state; and reminded the principle “the foundation of Turkish Republic is culture”. Longing for the betterment of the standards of an individual and making art as a lifestyle for citizens in our country, we have declared our wishes and intention for the creation of “culture” with a gathering themed art.

The 1st Globe Theatre which has a very important role in the history of theatre was established in London in 1599. Shakespeare became a partner of the theatre. Later Globe Theatre was burnt in a fire. The Globe Theatre of today is a reconstruction of the 1st Globe Theatre which was built same as the original. The theatre had an open part in the middle and became wet with the rain. As a result of an examination made on the old ground, it was seen that the ground was filled with a mixture of hazelnut shells, pebbles, clay and sand. So this mixture would absorb the rain and did not cause dust. When NUR ÜZMEN told us that hazelnut shells were required during the reconstruction, our Foundation made a move; obtained 7.5 tons of hazelnut from Fiskobirlik free of any charges; and transported the shells to Ankara. The British Embassy sent the hazelnut shells to England by a warplane of the Royal British Airlines. On the 85th anniversary of the foundation of our republic, starting off from the lines of great leader Atatürk, who is the founder of modern Turkish Republic and the most successful culture revolutionist;
